There are hundreds of posts like this, but I found this one to be hype-free and genuinely helpful. For the bloggers out there, or those starting with blogging – here are some helpful insights on successful blogging.
My favourite on the list (though it was hard to choose as each point resonated loudly with me): the courage to share your unique view is essential to blogging. It really does take courage to try not to sound like somebody else and stick to your own voice – be yourself – when you blog. Easier said than done – both online and offline – I know, but it’s the best strategy to have for us to remain authentic and relevant in this information-saturated world.
In the same vein, blogging also requires the courage to listen to others’ voices, to expand our horizons, but not try to imitate others’ voices.
Also good to remember: success in blogging doesn’t mean getting love from everyone, but being appreciated by the right kind of people. So don’t change your voice just so you can please everyone. Stick to your guns, and draw the audience that really matters. They may only be a few but their love would be true (couldn’t resist rhyming ;-p ).
I’m taking my own advise. Courage!
